Saved, Sanctified, and Surrendered: Becoming a Supernatural Church

What does it mean to truly be the supernatural church—the Body of Christ—today? In a world that often celebrates self-sufficiency, the gospel boldly invites us to a life marked by surrender, sanctification, and Spirit-empowered living. This week we continue to explore the theme of the Supernatural Church. If you have been reading the last few posts, you have the fundamental understanding that the church is not a building. It is the believers who are fulfilling their kingdom purpose. This takes work and commitment, the need for salvation, sanctification, and daily surrender to the Holy Spirit to transform not just individuals, but the whole church, into a supernatural family that builds up God’s people and glorifies Christ.

The Supernatural Church is made up of believers who are saved by grace, being sanctified daily, and learning to surrender every area of life to the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:5-11 tells us those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit, experiencing life and peace. God’s plan is not just to save us, but to empower us to resist sin. When was the last time you resisted sin? Did you experience an indescribable peace? Where did that peace come from? The more we reflect, the more we are reminded, daily, that we are made alive with Christ by grace, not by our own works. (Ephesians 2:1-8). As members of the body of Christ, we should not let sin reign in our mortal bodies, but offer yourselves to God (Romans 6). Our true worship is when we present our bodies (mind, body, and soul) as a living sacrifice. This means we let the Spirit transform our souls, and offer our bodies as instruments for righteousness. Our real worship is not just what we say or sing, but how we live—offering our whole selves to God’s will.

The Supernatural Church is not just a concept, but a living reality when God’s people embrace salvation, pursue sanctification, and practice daily surrender. As we yield to the Spirit, we become active instruments for righteousness—reflecting Jesus to a watching world.

What Does This Daily Lifestyle Look Like?

  • Examine Your Identity: Reflect on the biblical picture that you are spirit, soul, and body. Ask: where do I need the Holy Spirit to transform my soul—my mind, will, and emotions?

  • Daily Surrender: Pray, “Not my will, but yours be done,” echoing Jesus’ surrender in Luke 22:42 and the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:10. Identify specific areas you need to yield to God.

  • Resist Sin’s Rule: Remember, you are not powerless. The Holy Spirit gives you victory over sin. Don’t let past failures define you; instead, trust in God’s grace and choose obedience each day.

  • Live Out True Worship: Real worship happens outside the church walls. Let the Spirit’s influence overflow into your relationships, work, and service. Offer your whole life as an act of worship.

  • Build Up the Body: Recognize your role and gifts in the church. As you mature in surrender, use your gifts to encourage and build up others.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of salvation by Your grace. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit so I may surrender every area of my life to You. Transform my heart, mind, and body to be instruments for Your glory. Help me to resist sin, to walk in sanctification, and to live out true worship each day. Make me a member of Your supernatural church, empowered with a mind to work, to build Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
